Sony Vaio Z1VA Screen distortions

sony-vaioAnyone own or have any experience with Sony Vaio laptop model Z1VA? I’ve just relinquished my 17″ widescreen Acer Aspire 9500 to my Mom because her Vaio (which I gave her years ago) is having massive breakdown in the display. Will try and follow up here with a screen grab from that machine. Basically, there are a ton of vertical bluish specs of color that are mucking up the clarity of the display. Hoping to salvage the machine if at all possible.

Thanks in advance for anyone that could shed some light!
