The Omnivore's DilemmaOnly about 40 pages or so in, but have to say that in addition to those being quite fascinating pages, I very much admire Michael Pollan’s writing style.
Amazon also delivered his “In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto“. Looking forward to reading that as well.

Just wanted to post a quick update during a break in baking my roast and ratatouille. This book is simply mind blowing. Even though I've just taken to eating beef and pork again, after 26 years, what I've read thus far has made me completely realize there is such a thing as over doing it. And when you over do the meat eating thing, you really are contributing heavily to the downfall of our environment. This is saying nothing of course about all the corn we eat, drink, and likely wear! I heartily recommend this book for those who are interested in learning more about the real food chain in our modern world.

I'm nearing the completion of the section of the book where the author describes an amazing, nearly self sufficient “pastoral farm”. I really want to be a farmer now!Okay, maybe I don't want to work as hard as they do! The respect you gain for these amazing folks is immense. Read this book! If you're interested, I'll let you borrow my copy when I'm done. Just drop a message and let me know.
